This educational training board simulator is a fully
functional Dual-Zone Air Conditioning and Climate Control System Trainer,
featuring the advanced CLIMATRONIC 2C (2-Zone) electronic system with an
integrated auxiliary petrol heating unit.1 Based on Audi/VW
OEM components, it is designed to provide comprehensive, hands-on
instruction in the electronics, mechanics, and thermodynamic theory of an
advanced vehicle HVAC system.2 The trainer is installed in a mobile
aluminum frame.3
Key System Features and Operational Functions
The trainer simulates a complete, dual-zone system,
emphasizing the interaction between cooling and heating components:4
- Integrated
System: Features a functional 2C - Climatronic (Dual-Zone)
system using R134a refrigerant.5
- Auxiliary
Heating Unit: Includes an integrated auxiliary heating
unit (petrol or diesel on request) that delivers heated coolant fluid
to the heat exchange unit.6 This enables the climate control to
run and demonstrate the full range of heating and cooling functions
independently of the main engine.
- Component
Visibility: Allows for monitoring and observation of:
- The HVAC
compressor and its electromagnetic clutch operation.7
- Installed
pressure gauges monitor R134a pressure distribution in
the high and low-pressure circuits.
- The HVAC
mixing unit and the operation of airflow flaps.8
- Control
and Monitoring: Provides the ability to monitor and control
changes in parameters:
- Airflow
fan speed and airflow flap positions (defrost, air
recirculation, footwell).
- Interior
temperature.
- Refrigerant
pressure changes based on the cooling radiator fan speed.

of temperature change based on the airflow fan speed.

Display: A complete electrical wiring diagram is
displayed on the stand with built-in banana plug jumpers.9
Diagnostics and Measurement Capabilities
The board is engineered for comprehensive, hands-on
diagnostics of both the climate control and the auxiliary heater:
- Circuit
Access: Open contacts (banana connectors) allow
measuring electrical signal parameters of each system component
(sensors, motors, clutch) using an Oscilloscope/Multimeter.10
- Fault
Simulation: Supports the ability to simulate more than
15 system faults by disconnecting banana plug jumpers.11
- OBD Diagnosis
(Climatronic): Diagnosis through a standard OBD 16-pin
diagnostic connector enables:
- ECU
identification, reading/erasing fault codes, displaying
parameters (live data), and activating the actuators.
- Auxiliary
Heater Diagnosis: Supports diagnosis of the auxiliary heating
unit through its specific diagnostic socket, allowing students to
troubleshoot heater-specific faults.
