Air - Conditioning Demonstrator Trainer

Product Code : SCL-EELE-13789

This is a comprehensive, fully functional Automotive Air-Conditioning Demonstrator Trainer designed to accelerate student understanding of the refrigeration cycle and enhance fault diagnostics and troubleshooting skills in a safe, controlled environment. The system uses a complete set of basic automotive AC components mounted on a mobile, robust frame.

Core System Components and Operational Features

  • Integrated AC Circuit: The trainer includes the basic element components of an automotive AC unit: automotive compressor (driven by an electric motor), air cool condenser, dryer, finned tube evaporator with force draft fan, and a sight glass (side glass).
  • Engine Speed Simulation: The trainer is capable of simulating different engine speed conditions (idler or full speed) controlled by a digital frequency inverter, allowing students to study system performance under varying loads.
  • Variable Fan Control: A DC variable power source enables students to independently vary the speed of the condenser and evaporator force cool fans, providing hands-on experience in troubleshooting scenarios related to airflow issues.
  • Refrigerant: Uses the standard automotive refrigerant R134a.

Monitoring, Diagnostics, and Instruction

  • Instrumentation Panel: The monitoring side includes:
    • Four digital temperature controllers to view high and low side critical points.
    • Two pressure gauges to observe the high side and low side refrigerant pressure.
    • DC ammeter and voltmeter for studying the principles of controlling the DC motor speed by varying applied voltages.
  • Visual Cycle Observation: The sight glass is provided for students to directly observe the refrigerant change state (from liquid to gas), which is crucial for diagnosis.
  • Mimic Diagram and Measurement: An aluminum anodized mimic diagram displays an elaborate electrical circuit and refrigeration cycle drawing. This diagram includes safety sockets for students to perform direct electrical measurements using a multi-meter.
  • Service Practice: The mimic diagram also indicates the method for charging the refrigerant and discharging the unit.
