System Description and Operation
The system demonstrates the entire air compression and
distribution circuit:
- Air
Compression: The compressor takes air from the
atmosphere through a filter.
- Pressure
Regulation: The compressed air is sent to the reservoir
(air tank). The unloader valve is key: it lifts at a predetermined
pressure, relieving the compressor of load once the reservoir is full,
ensuring safe system pressure.
- Braking
Activation: From the reservoir, air goes to various
accessories and the brake chambers (diaphragm units) at each wheel,
controlled by the foot valve (driver's control).
- Braking
Principle: This system uses air pressure to activate the hydraulic
master cylinder (implied, or acting as a relay cylinder), which then
sends hydraulic fluid to the wheel cylinders to apply the brake
shoes against the brake drum.
Specifications (Components Included)
The trainer includes functional components such as:
- Foot
valve (Controls air flow from the driver's pedal).
- Unloading
valve (Regulates maximum system air pressure).
- Master
cylinder (The primary hydraulic component receiving air input).
- Wheel
cylinder (Hydraulic component that actuates the shoes at the
wheel).
- Brake
drum and Brake shoes (The final friction components).
- Compressed
air with brake lines (The pneumatic circuit plumbing).
Site Requirements
- Electric
Supply: 230V 50Hz. with proper earthing (Required to
power the compressor/driving motor).
- Compressor
(Required to generate the compressed air for demonstration).
