Torsion Pendulum Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : ILS-AM-10904
Indian Lab Suppliers supplies the Torsion Pendulum (Product ID: 10904) as part of its applied mechanics range. A solid brass disc hung on a wire, with an add-on brass ring, for studying torsional oscillations and the modulus of rigidity.
Quick Answer
One end of the suspension wire is held in a universal clamp by a chuck nut, and the other is clamped by a chuck nut to a solid brass disc 12.5 cm in diameter and 1.25 cm thick. A heavy brass ring with the same outside diameter as the disc is included: placing it on the disc increases the moment of inertia and so the period of oscillation. Comparing the two periods gives the modulus of rigidity of the wire, with the ring’s moment of inertia calculated from its mass and radii. A version with a 6 inch brass disc is also available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why add the ring?
It raises the moment of inertia, and so the period, by a known amount.
What disc sizes are offered?
12.5 cm, and a 6 inch version.
What does the experiment find?
