For each of the three circuits, students measure the supply voltage, the voltages across the components and the current, then work out true power, power factor and the phasor (vector) diagram. A mains transformer provides 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 V AC tappings at 500 mA. Two 0–75 V and one 0–50 V AC voltmeters and a 0–500 mA AC milliammeter (65 mm round dials) are fitted, together with a high-wattage resistor, a capacitor and an inductor.
