The Base Digital Hydraulic Bench Module constitutes a
foundational, volumetric type service unit critical for Fluid Mechanics
and Hydraulics Laboratories. Its design ensures a continuous and
controlled water supply for conducting a wide array of experiments using
various auxiliary modules. Operating as a closed water circuit,
the system requires only an initial fill, after which water is efficiently recycled
between the experiment module, measuring tank, and storage tank
via a centrifugal pump. The unit’s core purpose is to provide the necessary
controlled flow for student projects and key flow-related experiments. It is
highly recommended due to its portability, non-corrosive construction
(Fiber Glass option), and integrated safety features.
Core Features and Operation
The apparatus is a self-contained and fully
portable mobile unit. The closed water circuit includes a centrifugal
pump and a control valve for precise flow rate adjustment. The Bench
Top features an integrated flow channel for preliminary flow measurements,
notably using Weirs, and includes a stepped edge for secure mounting of
experiment modules. Flow rate measurement is facilitated by a graduated and
stepped Measuring Tank for both low and and high volumes, in addition to an
independent Variable Area Flow Meter (range 10-75 liters per minute). Stilling
baffles ensure minimized turbulence. Safety and operational features
include a Remote Actuator for the Dump Valve, an Over Flow
mechanism in the Measuring Tank, and electrical protection against overload and
under-voltage. Optional features include pump performance study using a Motor
Dynamometer and the Sci-Cal software for data acquisition and
graphical analysis in a Labview environment.

Technical Details:
The base module functions as a closed water circuit utilizing
a submersible pump. Flow rates are measured volumetrically using a stopwatch
and the partitioned measuring tank, or via a dedicated measuring beaker for
very small flows. The entire tank system is constructed from Fiber Glass.
Optional Features:
